Chief Information Technology Officer asks for staff input in new survey

ICT SurveyExcellent feedback has been received from UN Secretariat staff on the survey. But, in order to allow more time to those staff who have not yet responded, the survey deadline has been extended to 27 January (Sunday). Thank you.

In our day-to-day work, virtually all of us rely on information and communications technology (ICT) to be more effective and efficient UN personnel. ICT is an essential tool that we often take for granted when things are working well.

In its resolution 60/283 of July 2006, the General Assembly approved a number of measures to invest in the United Nations for a stronger Organization worldwide. Among these, it established the ASG-level post of the Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), with the responsibility for developing the overall ICT strategy for the United Nations Secretariat and for leading its implementation. The first CITO, Mr. Choi Soon-Hong, assumed his duties at the Secretariat last fall.

As part of a broad-based ICT strategic planning effort to identify the key business needs and priorities that shape the activities of the global Secretariat, Mr. Choi would like to invite you to participate in a short, anonymous survey on ICT. The purpose of the survey, which should take less than 10 minutes, is to gauge your general satisfaction with core ICT services. Responses to the survey will be used to help identify areas for improvement in the ICT programmes and services of the Secretariat in the future.

You are asked to complete the survey by Sunday, 27 January 2008.
